【Abstract】 Herzog, a novel written by Saul Bellow, mainly comprises of interior monologues, which represent dialogues between Herzog and his self. Meanwhile, dialogues between Herzog and others are revealed through the shift of point of view.All these dialogues disclose conflicts between different consciousnesses. Based on the polyphony theory put forward by Russian philosopher Mikhail Bakhtin, the paper analyzes the polyphony in Herzog from the following three aspects: the self consciousness of the protagonist, dialogues between Herzog and others, and the shift of point of view.更多还原
