【摘要】 中国典籍展现了中国古代社会风貌,蕴含着中华民族悠久的历史积淀,含有丰富的中华思想文化概念术语。其中,礼俗术语展示了中国传统的典章制度、仪礼规制、交往准则等。礼俗术语往往具有民族性,其翻译往往会遇到语义重构中的信息不对等问题。本文以《史记》《汉书》中的礼俗术语英译为研究对象,基于沃森和倪豪士的《史记》英译本,以及德效骞和沃森的《汉书》英译本,分析不同译者在英译礼俗术语时使用的翻译策略。研究表明,译者对于礼俗术语的概念均进行了语义重构,体现了不同程度的明晰化英译倾向,如音译加类属意译、描述性对等、文化对等、功能对等、自然化翻译、内涵明晰化、文内注释等,以期达到术语译文与源语术语的概念融通,增加译文的可读性和可理解性,从而强化译文的可接受性。这对于当前语境下中华思想文化术语的对外译介与传播研究具有一定的借鉴意义。更多还原

【Abstract】 Chinese classics provide a glimpse into ancient Chinese society and represent a rich Chinese history. They also contain a diverse range of Chinese ideological and cultural terms, among which the etiquette and ritual terms show the traditional Chinese ceremonial and ritual norms, etiquettes and rites, and social interaction practice models. As etiquette and ritual terms are usually culture-specific and contain unique national features, translators often encounter unsymmetrical information load in reconstructing the semantic features of the original term. This paper investigates the translation techniques for etiquette and ritual terms in the English versions of Shi Ji translated by Burton Watson and William H. Nienhauser, Jr. respectively, and Hanshu by Homer H. Dubs and Burton Watson respectively. The results show that the translators all resorted to semantic reconstruction featured by explicitation in translating these terms, such as transliteration plus categorization translation, descriptive equivalent, cultural equivalent, functional equivalent, naturalization, connotative explicitation, intratextual annotation, etc. These methods contribute to the conceptual transparency of the term translation, enhancing its readability, comprehensibility and acceptability. The research results may shed some light on the approach to translate and introduce Chinese ideological and cultural terms into the outside world in the present context.更多还原
