【Abstract】 Saul Bellow is a prominent American novelist in the twentieth century. Herzog, Bellow’s sixth novel, is considered as Bellow’s most representative work, which depicts the protagonist’s miserable inward and outward journey within five days. Using the theory of spiritual ecology, the paper aims to analyze the reasons of the imbalance of spiritual ecology in Herzog from three aspects: the emptiness of Herzog’s soul, the incompetence of Herzog’s behavior, and the alienation of Herzog’s existence. In addition, the paper illustrates Herzog’s spiritual exploration from alienation to self-realization.更多还原
