The development of big data and social progress have injected new vitality and motivation into library service, and also brought more opportunities and challenges. In the big data era, library should use big data to innovate library service, and improve the core competitiveness. This paper first analyzed the characteristics of big data, and discussed its influences and challenges on libraries as well as the requirements, and finally hypothesized that the innovation of library service must be on its way.
