【Abstract】 Otto Jespersen,a Denmark linguist,has made unique contribution to linguistics with his studies on grammar philosophy and English grammar,which has great influence on later linguistic studies. Jespersen develops a set of formula for syntactic elements along with his linguistics studies. This syntactic symbol system is a key instrument to understand his grammar philosophy and linguistic philosophy. It is to introduce,as well as interpret,the symbols and formula including the meaning of the symbols and the ways they describe sentences.It is expected to provide a documentary reference for the scholars and readers in this domain.更多还原
