Progress of research on the interaction between gut microbiota and brain
【Abstract】 Gut microbiota inhabiting in the host plays an important role in a variety of physiological functions and related diseases. In recent years, the gut-brain axis(GBA)has been found to be a nerve-endocrine mediated bidirectional communication system between gut microbiota and brain, which as a novel medical research highlight has received widespread attention from researchers.GBA not only affects the development and function of brain via gut microbiota, but also makes it possible for brain to change the structure and diversity of gut microbiota. This article reviews the interaction between gut microbiota and brain via GBA,with the intention of providing a reference for further researches on the functions of intestinal tract and brain,as well as the therapeutic strategies of related diseases.
