Intestinal flora and protein metabolism
【Abstract】 A large number of microorganisms reside in human intestine. These microorganisms are in a symbiotic relationship with the host under healthy condition and can prevent pathogens from translocation to other parts of human body.Intestinal flora is in a dynamic balance and participates in the metabolism of the host.Intestinal flora is the main participants in food digestion such as the separation, synthesis and absorption of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and vitamins. The growth of bacteria depends on nitrogen source.Intestinal flora can provide nitrogen source for themselves and for the host by participating in protein metabolism.Different types of proteins have different influence on intestinal flora. Some proteins can promote while the others can inhibit the growth of intestinal flora.Bacteria produced amino acids are of important significance to the health of host.Restoring the amino acid balance in intestine can be a new way to treat bowel diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis.
