【Abstract】 In the Focus Column, the following questions are discussed, what are the new requirements for multi-modal transpor t development in the new era, how is the development of multimodal transport in China, what are the trends, what advanced concepts and practices should be learned from the international multimodal transport, how to understand the great significance of the construction of international logistics…This issue provides us with a multi-dimensional view and reflection on the development and transformation of China’s multi-modal transport. Multimodal transport is a very complicated system engineering, which involves the connection and coordination of various transport modes and different logistics links. It is the basic premise for us to improve facilities and equipment to advance the hard conditions of the development of multi-modal transport. We should strengthen overall planning and try to find a solution so as to avoid new barriers and waste in the new construction. As an efficient, safe and low-cost way of modern transportation and an effective way being internationally recognized to realize the logistics supply chain efficiency optimization, multimodal transport has become the main form of international logistics in the entire transport. Compared with the international multimodal transport, multimodal transport, China at present is still in its early stage of development and the overall development level is not high. No matter from the scale, quality and level of market organization and the international development, there is a larger gap. Cargo transport cost accounts for about 30% of the whole logistics cost, which greatly reduces the efficiency of transport organization and increases business costs, making the sea-train intermodal port transportation system become the biggest "short board". Only realize the connectivity of different transport management system, improve the infrastructure such as highway, rail and water, then can we realize the seamless connection between "last mile" and "last centimeter". Under the background of "Belt and Road" construction, China’s logistics channel of two-way development to the sea and land. The formation of eleven logistics channel pattern speeds up. At the same time of strengthening the shipping channel advantage, relying on the logistics channel, our multimodal transport network backbone has basically established. The rapid development of international logistics channel of East China’s coast cuts through the Siberian continental bridge, the Midwest links the new Asia-Europe continental bridge, the inland rail and water transport network of the golden water ports of the Yangtze River and the Pearl River-Xijiang economic belt is formed and gradually mature; the logistics channel of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic corridor connecting China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor and Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone connecting the ASEAN region starts planning and construction. The report of the 19 th National People’s Congress of the CPC said that "our economy has been developed from rapid growth stage to high quality development stage, being in the transformation of the development mode, optimizing the economic structure and transforming the growth momentum period. The construction of modern economic system is the urgent request of crossing the barrier and the development of strategic objectives. Must insist on quality first and benefit priority." The current deepening structural reform of the supply side has to improve the quality of the supply system as the main direction. Promote our country’s high-end industry towards a global value chain by enhancing China’s economic and quality advantages significantly.
