【Abstract】 A grey area in maritime delimitation is an area lying within 200 nm from the coast of one state,but situated at the other side of the maritime boundary. Whether the creation of a grey area should be avoided and how to deal with the rights in such an area are two major problems that are to be envisaged.It may be unavoidable to create grey areas in maritime delimitation and the creative approaches of transfer or reservation of the rights in grey area are needed.
