Effects of energy and protein levels on the growth performance, slaughter performance and nutrient digestibility of Roman goose
【Abstract】 In order to study the effects of dietary energy and protein levels on the growth performance, slaughter performance and nutrient digestibility of Roman goose,4-week-old Roman geese, the same age and raised in the same condition, were randomly divided into 4 groups, fed with A, B, C and D diets according to the energy and protein levels. The weight, feed consumption, slaughter performance, crude protein and energy digestibility were tested during the experiment. The results showed that the effect of dietary metabolic energy levels on body weight, average daily gain and feed weight ratio were significant, while the protein levels and the interaction between crude protein and energy were not significant. The energy levels had extremely significant effects on the utilization of crude protein and energy while the protein levels and the interaction had no significantly different. With the increasing of crude protein and energy supply, the nutrient digestibility decreased. There was no significant difference in slaughter performance. Except for the abdominal fat percentage, the interaction between energy and protein had no significant effect on slaughter performance. Conclusion : Dietary energy levels significantly or extremely significantly affected the growth performance, slaughter performance and nutrient utilization of 5—8 weeks old goose, but the levels of crude protein were not significant.
