【Abstract】 Greenway is a kind of linear open green space, which can be regarded as an effective supplement to urban transportation system. Macdonald(1985) believes that Japan is a modern and fast-paced country, because it does not have enough land and natural resources, thus creating a green road system will bring a lot of benefits, such as organic combination of natural and cultural landscape, create a harmonious city and so on. In addition, greenway system can not only make the city more ecological, but also has the function of preventing natural disasters.The purpose of this paper is to summarize the benefits of Greenway system by analyzing the urban greenway system in Fukuoka, Japan. The first part of this paper will focus on the overall situation of Fukuoka, including land area, population, location, and so on. After that, this paper will explain the reasons of the use of Greenway system in Fukuoka. In the third part, the author will focus on the composition and influence of the Fukuoka greenway system.更多还原
