【Abstract】 The work of Shen Congwen has once been included in the thought of "national character transformation"proposed by Lu Xun,which lacks sufficient analysis. On the basis of his essays in 1930’s and 1940’s,it is discovered in this paper that despite his attachment to the countryside and resentment to the city,Shen Congwen is neither in favor of tradition-reversion or opposed to the development of modernity. As a matter of fact,his wishes,on one hand,to warn the public against the disadvantage of modernity in terms of the naturalness,simplicity and the vigorous vitality of the rural area; on the other hand,to reconstruct the national spirit with truth,beauty and passion of life.更多还原
