【Abstract】 Through a historical overview of Scrutiny from its inception to its closure, this article examines the circumstances and accomplishments of the journal in showcasing and implementing F. R. Leavis’ s ideas and principles about literary criticism as a course in culture and education in the age of mass production and commercialism.
