【Abstract】 Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy has been proved to be effective in reducing the risk of local recurrence and became part of the standard therapy for locally advanced rectal cancer. However, the strategy does not improve overall survival.Moreover, the functional outcome and quality of life is significantly worse than surgery alone.
