【Abstract】 The UK in the beginning of the 16 th century was not a powerful country either in maritime navigation or maritime trade.From the end of the 16 th century and the beginning of the 17 th century,the UK had the tendency of "turning to sea".Several factors contributed to the tendency of "turning to sea",in which Richard Hakluyt played an essential role by translating,editing and facilitating the printing of travel books.Hakluyt’s maritime writing depicted British deep-rooted and glorious navigation history,constructed the romantic picture of the " new world",and brought the outside world to British people.更多还原
