【Abstract】 After the Cold War,the role of Russia in the Middle East is sort of embarrassed by acting as an activist but not a leader. Russia tries to reinforce its existence via neutral position,demonstrating its unique influence in the region. Russian diplomacy in the Middle East is featured with opportunism: on one hand,Russia is unable to control or lead the regional development; while on the other hand,it refuses to be excluded from the regional reconstruction and act only as an outsider. As the Syrian Crisis continues,Russian diplomacy in the Middle East has shifted from the negative response to the positive opportunism,with the flag of conducting military attack on extremism in that region. It has transited from a neutral mediator to a direct participant that can lead the course of events,i. e. from observing and waiting for chances to initially creating opportunities and introducing new topics on regional issues.更多还原
