【Abstract】 Through the structure of time-space interweaving and juxtaposition, Stoppard’s play Acadia combines the decadent noble life in an English countryside in the early 19 th century with the contemporary people’s research about it. The play reflects how the industrialization, European revolution and war shook the feudal aristocratic force and made the aristocrats far away from their "Acadia". The play also describes the contemporary people’s reminisces of the past peaceful and comfortable life, and rethinks profoundly about the process of modernization. Therefore, the play Acadia is different from the former works of social criticism and moral condemnation, and surpasses the other great dramatists’ plays in the achievement of thoughts and art.更多还原
