as a special kind of culture, proverbs are accumulation of human wisdom handed down from generation to generation. This paper analyzes roots of differences between the Chinese culture and Western cultural, and differences are demonstrated between Chinese and English proverbs from aspects of customs,humanistic ideas, morality, values and aesthetic concepts. It helps to promote cultural exchanges between East and West.
