【Abstract】 Objective: To investigate the association between obesity and atopic dermatitis(AD) in children in Baotou area in order to develop new ideas for treating AD children. Methods: 212 children with AD aged 0 to 9 years and 424 agematched healthy controls were enrolled from January 2010 to June 2014 in the hospital.Allergen specific Ig E levels were measured using immunoblotting. The height, weight and body mass index-for-age of percentiles were assessed. The extent of lesion severity was evaluated using eczema area and severity index(EASI).The association between obesity and AD was assessed using a conditional logistic regression method. Results: After adjustment for multiple potential confounding factors, obesity was significantly associated with AD(OR=4.1,95%CI:2.23~5.76,P<0.01) and the severity of AD(OR=2.15,95%CI:1.31~3.56,P<0.01).Conclusions: The development and progression of AD in children are closely associated with obesity.Obesity is a risk factor for exacerbation of AD in children.
