【摘要】 1934年,北京大学校长蒋梦麟在胡适、傅斯年等人的支持下,解聘国文系教授林损等人,引发风波,长期担任国文系主任的马裕藻被迫辞职。此事看似新旧之争的延续,其实反映了国人由来已久的关于中国文学的观念及教法的分歧。蒋梦麟等人以行政主导强势推行的除旧布新,除了实现蓄谋已久的赶走所谓温州学派乃至终结章门弟子把持的历史,并没有赢得国文系学生的支持,也未能在课程设置和人才培养方面显出成效。如果当年对马裕藻新旧并用的主张多一些包容,或许今日把握"中国文学"会少几分尴尬。更多还原

【Abstract】 In 1934,the president of Peking University,Jiang Menglin,sparked a crisis when,with the support of Hu Shi and Fu Sinian,he dismissed Lin Sun and several other professors in the Chinese Language Department.Ma Yuzao,who had been dean of the Department for a long time,was forced to resign.This episode looks like a continuation of the dispute between the old and the new,but it actually reflects longstanding divergences within Chinese people’ s opinions and beliefs about how to teach Chinese literature.Though the forceful administrative measures taken by Jiang Menglin and his supporters to get rid of the old and bring in the new did achieve their longstanding goal of expelling the so-called "Wenzhou School" —even going so far as to end the Chinese Language Department’ s long history of domination by Zhang Taiyan’ s students—they did not succeed in gaining the support of students in the department,nor were they successful in changing the curriculum or personnel training of the department.If Ma Yuzao’ s advocacy of combining the old and the new had been treated more leniently,perhaps our grasp of "Chinese literature" today would be somewhat less awkward.更多还原
