【Abstract】 The Philippine six-year presidential election was held in May 2016 that introduced the three rounds of American-type debate for the first time before the general election,which helped to boost the original Davao City Mayor Duterte to win as the sixteenth president of Philippines by a large margin of votes. This paper analyzes how the presidential campaign mix and election platform as well as American-type debates help to boost Mr. Duterte wearing the president’s crown,after that,introduces some of the country’s mountainous problems Duterte’s government has to deal with and the challenges has to confronted with.
