【Abstract】 The discussion of"foreignizing translation"and"domesticating translation"has re- entered into our view recently.And the paper aims to analyze the German philosopher,Friedrich Schleiermacher’s translation theory from aspects of the definition and classification of translation,methods in translating,and the functions of translation by restudying his "On the Different Methods of Translation". By analyzing concrete translation examples and the present globalized context,the paper re- emphasizes and extends the practical meaning of Friedrich Schleiermacher’s translation thoughts in reforming national culture and tempering the essence of national civilization.更多还原
