【Abstract】 The death plot that characterizes Flannery O’Connor’s novels renders her a horrible and even"evil"writer and a representative of the Gothic style,while O’Connor herself was against such an interpretation,insisting that her writings were concerned about religious conversion and brought hopes of redemption to readers. Then a rational exploration of "death"in the Christian especially the Catholic context is necessary to bridge the writer’s creative motive and readers’ response. By examining the two most noteworthy deaths in the Bible,namely,Abraham ’s sacrifice of his son and Jesus Christ ’s crucifixion,the religious meaning of death is decoded,paving the way to a proper understanding of this Catholic writer.更多还原
