【Abstract】 Taking the characters of the Bai people in Dali Yunnan Province as a reference, the article makes an analysis of the birth and usage of Japan’s Manyougana. The author holds that although the pronunciation and spelling are different between Japan’s Manyougana and the characters of the Bai ethnic group due to different records and styles, there is some commonality in the origin and the usage of the two forms. The author also determines that compared with Japanese, the text used by the Bai is closer to Chinese languages. The words used by the Bai people are less independent and they do not use ongana and kungana in a standard way. Neither have they developed manyougana into hiragana and katakana, as Japanese did.更多还原
