In this paper, the epichlorohydrin was introduced into the UF resin as a modifier. The effects of epichlorohydrin on the modified urea resin were discussed. The results showed that the best mole ratio of formaldehyde and urea was 1.0 when 3% epichlorohydrin by weight of total resin was added. The formaldehyde emission reached the E1 standard requirement, and the bonding strength of plywood bonded with the modified UF resin can meet the requirement of type II specified in GB 9846-2004.
