【摘要】 本文从汉语对"科学"一词的翻译开始讨论,通过仔细辨析西文"science"同汉语"科学"之间在语义及精神上的出入,以说明此翻译同原文之间实则大异其趣,并不是"科学"的翻译。由此接着追问"翻译"的科学性问题,并以严复的翻译实践和翻译理论为例,来说明翻译活动应该坚持的一些基本原则和应该持有的翻译精神,进而强调要特别重视严译的精神和实践,即便时至今日,严的翻译原则和表现出的译事精神仍然值得尊重和坚持。更多还原

【Abstract】 This article carefully examines the Chinese translation of the western word"science"and points out that the translation has actually resulted in a great loss of the significance embodied in "science",which has enjoyed a long history through the Greek and Roman civilization. Then,the discussion is turned to the question how the translation activity should be conducted. By taking the great translator Yan Fu into consideration,this articles argues that Yan Fu’s philosophy and theory of translation is still important and worth special attention for today’s translators.更多还原
