班级规模对学生外语学习焦虑的影响

【摘要】 班级规模对课堂教学和学习的影响在教育界一直是研究的重点。本研究通过三个不同班级规模的大学英语课堂教学实验,考察了班级规模对5个不同维度外语学习焦虑的影响。研究发现,不同班级规模的外语学习焦虑存在差异,随着班级规模变大,交际焦虑、考试焦虑、负面评价恐惧和英语课堂焦虑有加重的趋势,然而受罚焦虑却随班级规模变大不断减轻。班级规模通过影响师生关系、同学关系、课堂师生互动和课堂教学管理等因素,间接地影响学生5个维度的外语课堂学习焦虑。研究结果对缓解学生外语学习焦虑,提高不同班级规模课堂教学效果和学习效果具有一定的启示和参考价值。

【Abstract】 The impact of class size on classroom teaching and learning is always the focus and hotspot in the educational field.This study attempts to investigate the impact of different class- size classes on five facets of foreign language anxiety by examining three college English classes. The results show that foreign language anxiety varies with different class sizes. Communication apprehension,test anxiety,fear of negative evaluation and anxiety of English classes heighten along with the expansion of class sizes while anxiety of punishment displays the reverse tendency. Class sizes produce effects on classroom factors like student- teacher relations,peer relations,classroom interaction and classroom management,which in turn impact foreign language anxiety. The findings possess the merits of alleviating foreign language anxiety and providing reference and inspiration for boosting the effects of classroom teaching and learning.
