【Abstract】 The analysis of the trans-use of professional words in news headlines in the newspaper Xin’an Evening News and its rhetorical function indicates that, on one hand,the rang of trans-use in professional words is enlarged, its usage becomes more flexible and word meaning becomes broader. Trans-use reflects the great influence of social development on language usage. It also demonstrates people’s renewal ideas and the universal improvement of people’s cultural level. On the other hand, the trans-use of professional words enriches the expressive form of a news’ headline, reinforces its expressive power and stresses the news’ theme.
