基于编码信号时间内插的高精度时间间隔测量方法

【摘要】 受测量方法和器件性能的制约,对单次测量精度达到亚皮秒(<1 ps)量级的事件计时技术的研究是一个亟待解决的难题。提出了一种新的高精度时间间隔测量方法,利用声表面波编码器件作为时间内插器,将时间内插法和编码信号自相关函数的高信噪比特性相结合,并利用一种完全有别于传统的时域互相关对时延进行测量的算法,从而可以大幅提高时间间隔测量的精度。实验结果表明,当时间内插信号采用带宽40 MHz、时宽5μs、中心频率150 MHz的线性调频信号时,可以获得0.48 ps测量精度。该方法是一种可靠、稳定、实用的高精度时间间隔测量方法,单次测量精度能够达到亚皮秒量级。

【Abstract】 Restricted by the measurement method and device performance,currently the event timing technique with the single shot precision reaching sub-picosecond( < 1 ps rms) is a challenge to be solved. The paper presents a novel high-precision time interval measurement method which utilizes surface acoustic wave encoder as a time interpolator. It combines the time interpolation method and the characteristic high signal-noise ratio of the cross correlation function of encoded signal,and uses an algorithm completely different with the traditional algorithm based on time-domain cross correlation in the measurement of time delay,and thus the precision of time interval measurement are improved substantially. The experiment result shows that 0. 48 picosecond precision can be reached when a LFM signal with 40 MHz bandwidth,5μs time-width and 150 MHz center frequency as the time interpolation signal is used. It’s a reliable,stable and practical high-precision time interval measurement method,in which a single measurement can reach sub-picosecond.
