PDP瞬时残像及其改善方法
Novel Technique for Improvement of Image Retention in Plasma Display Panel
【摘要】 针对等离子体显示器(PDP)显示静态图像时产生的瞬时残像,通过研究瞬时残像的形成原因及其自恢复过程中的光电特性,提出了一种动态调整维持波形改善瞬时残像的方法。该方法根据图像的平均值(APL)对图像的运动状态进行检测,并根据APL动态调整维持波形上升期的能量恢复时间。在显示静态图像时减缓维持放电,可有效减轻瞬时残像的产生;显示动态图像时增强维持放电,可加速瞬时残像的恢复。国际电工委员会标准残像测试图像实验结果表明,瞬时残像恢复时间从440 s减少到270 s,缩短了38.61%,该方法能够有效加速瞬时残像的恢复,显著提高PDP显示画质。
【Abstract】 A novel technique was developed to reduce the image retention in plasma display panel with a dynamic sustain waveform.The mechanism responsible for the image retention,and its photoelectric properties in the self-recovery were analyzed.The image motion was detected,and the energy recovery time was dynamically adjusted in the rising time of sustain waveform by means of the average picture level.The image retention was reduced by weakening the sustain discharge of static image,and the recovery of image retention was accelerated by strengthening the sustain discharge of dynamic image.The test results indicate that the recovery time of image retention was reduced by about 38.61%,from 440 s to 270 s.The displayed image shows that the newly-developed technique effectively speeded up the recovery of image retention,and significantly improved the PDP image quality.
