【Abstract】 In an age of globalization,the development of overseas Confucius Institutes is just a strategic measure taken by China to remodel its image during the course of its rise. In this process,China pays much attention to other countries and tries to spread its language and culture to exotic civilizations. As is known,the purpose of developing overseas Confucius Institutes is to seek China’s power of discourse in the post-Cold War global power structure,and then enhance China’s status in the cultural & ideological domain of the world. Concerning the origin of overseas Confucius Institutes,we should reflect upon the following aspects: "assertive opposition"in cultural globalization; panoramic articulation in the image of"nothing"; indirect refusal in power externalization. It can be said that overseas Confucius Institutes are a signal sent by China to appeal for peaceful"hegemonic transition"around the world,and as a platform they also practically provide China with opportunities to achieve its power of discourse by means of"public diplomacy".更多还原
