【Abstract】 Ethical Joyce by Marian Eide analyzes the major works of the Irish writer James Joyce from the perspective of ethical literary criticism. The book is theoretically based on Levinas’ ethical concepts of responsibility and the relationship of self and other, supplemented by feminist theory. Eide argues that Joyce’s works are actually an invitation to the reader. She emphasizes the readers’ role in completing the meaning of the works. Ethical Joyce has provided a model of ethical interpretation of literary works. It is a persuasive, logical and theoretically sound critique, which has won itself an irreplaceable place in the criticism of Joyce’s works.更多还原
