【Abstract】 Based upon The Bible, Thomas Mann’s Joseph and His Brothers could be read as a historical novel, in which the writer ponders over Joseph’s trip in ancient Egypt from a brand-new perspective with contemporary thought and spirit. That archaism and anachronism are borrowed to depict Egypt both as a country geographically and historically in existence and as a virtual land endowed with a particularity and specificity is a tribute to the enduring charm of the novel.更多还原
