【Abstract】 Katherine Anne Porter creates an impressive mother in her short story He,and arouses great attention ever since the story is published. Some studies hold the view that the Mother in the story is cruel and selfish,who maltreats her mentally retarded son,but in this paper,the author will study the Mother by analyzing the character " He" and the absence of the father in the family.
