单模光纤宏弯损耗性能的试验研究
Experimental study on macrobending loss properties of single mode fibers
【摘要】 研究了两种光纤(SMF28和1060XP)在波长1310nm处、弯曲半径5~15mm范围内的宏弯损耗性能。观察到了两种光纤宏弯损耗整体都随着弯曲半径增大而减小,并伴有振荡现象,其中1060XP光纤对宏弯损耗更敏感。用耦合模理论解释了WGM(whispering-gallery mode)对光纤宏弯损耗振荡的影响。测量了1060XP光纤涂覆层黑化后的宏弯损耗,结果表明:将光纤涂覆层烤黑能够减轻光纤宏弯损耗振荡。
【Abstract】 The measurements of macrobending loss properties of two kinds of single mode fibers are conducted. The two types of fibers are SMF28 single mode fiber and 1060 XP single mode fiber, which are tested in contrast at a wavelength of 1310 nm, as bend radius ranging from 5~15mm. The results indicate that the macrobending loss of the two fibers decrease on the whole as the bend radius increase, and they both change very slowly at big radius, corresponding to strong oscillation phenomena at small radius. Furthermore, it could be concluded that 1060 XP fiber is more sensitive to bend loss than SMF28 fiber. Then the significant impact of the WGM(whispering-gallery mode) on the oscillations of macrobending loss of optical fibers is analyzed by the coupled-mode theory. Since 1060 XP fiber is quite sensitive to bend loss, it is chosen to measure the macrobending loss properties based on black coating layers. Results show that baking coating black is an effective method to relieve the oscillations of macrobending loss of a fiber.
