In this research, the study on the changes of macromolecular components in different periods of Chinese Holstein dairy cow mammary gland using classic histochemical methods, including PAS, oil red dyeing,ninhydrin- schiff dyeing, combined with biological microscopic image analysis. The results indicated that glucoproteins and proteoglycans were the major carbohydrate in puberty, early and midpregnancy and involution. Lactose was the most in late pregnancy and lactation.
