【Abstract】 As one of the precursors of the history of science and quantitative measures of science, Derek John de Solla Price is credited as the father of scientometrics. By creatively proposing the concept of Big Science and advocating the humanities of science and science of science, he revolutionized the social studies of science. In the mean time, he laid the foundation for scientometrics by discovering the exponential growth of science and many laws in scientific documents. Price combined mathematical thinking with logical analysis of ancient Babylon and Greece, crossed the boundary of academic fields, and with his excellent research and practice,proved the possibility of the integration between science and humanities.更多还原
