【Abstract】 Adorno’s "the other" is a "heterogeneity" that cannot be cognized and swallowed by the concept of subject "I".That is the "matter".So "matter" is namely the "non-conceptual matter".Because Adorno inherited Kant’s opinion that "do not know the thing in itself", "non-conceptual matter" became the only weapon to stand up to the idealist epistemology. "Negative dialectics" believes that "matter" and "I" are always in a certain medium condition that cannot be unified,which is the result that carrying out Hegel’s medium thought through to the end.On this basis,Adorno believes that it is the moving of the unknowable matter that leads to the happening of history,so history itself is unknowable,too.Therefore,talking about "matter" or "history" is "expressing the inexpressible matter".In a word,Adorno deduces the agnostic "historical materialism" from "the matter of the other".In this sense,Habermas’ theory of communicative action belongs to generalized negative dialectics theory.更多还原
