【Abstract】 Based on empirical studying,this paper focuses on the prominence aspect of accent,and expounds the syntagmatic contrast between sentence constituents and the paradigmatic contrast between stressed words and other potential counterparts,concluding that all accented words are contrastive.The contrast at the syntagmatic level is a contrast of intensity between stressed words and unstressed words in a sentence structure,while the contrast at the paradigmatic level is a semantic contrast between stressed words and other semantically related words.These words form a potential contrast set,either contextually constrained or not,and the contrasts with these sets are overt or covert accordingly.更多还原
