【Abstract】 Appraisal Theory focuses on the language resources and attitude used for conferring the social relationship.Engagement is one of the important assessing indexes.The analysis of the engagement resources reveals that,compared with dialogic expansion,the strategy of dialogic contraction is more applied.In order to express the attitude and standpoint of the United States,Obama contracts the other voices.Besides,some strategy of dialogic expansion serves to win the support and understanding from the public and the foreign countries.Engagement helps to strengthen the interpersonal control over the audience so as to realize the effective interaction between the speaker and his audience.更多还原
