【摘要】 西方现代文化语境中的公共精神概念,可以成为解释中外私立大学成功与否的一把钥匙。20世纪上半叶中国部分私立大学和当代一些民办高校的教训,说明在中国两千年君主专制政治及其文化传统的负面因素影响之下,部分办学者欠缺公共精神,是妨碍私立大学健康发展的一个因素;美国私立大学和昔日私立南开大学的成功经验,证明办学者拥有公共精神,是成就一流私立大学的因素之一。办学者只有具备公共精神,才能有利于成就一流私立大学,推进公民社会的发展,推进人的现代化,并由此而推进中国社会的现代化。更多还原

【Abstract】 The public spirit concepts in the western modern cultural context can be a gauge in measuring whether a privately-run university is successful or not.The lessons of some of the privately-run universities of the first half of the 20th century and some present-day private universities have shown that the lack of public spirits,which has resulted from the negative influence of China’s two-thousand-year feudal system and cultural traditions,is a factor hindering the healthy development of private universities.Whereas the successful experience of the private universities in the U.S.and the former privately-run Nankai University indicates that the school administration’s public spirits is a factor making them first-class.Therefore the public spirits of the school runners is key to the building of first-class private universities,thus a prerequisite for the development of a civil society,the promotion of the modernization of human,and the realization of China’s modernization.更多还原
