【Abstract】 Riddle is a popular language phenomenon,and also a language game in which the answer is concealed in its conundrum through the use of simile,metaphor,pun and polysemy and other figures of speech,for the riddle solver to derive the solution to the riddle. In light of relevance theory,it is illustrated by various examples that riddles are not tailored to specific solvers,therefore,riddle solvers’ language knowledge,the consonance of conundrum information and the riddle solvers’ contextual cognition would influence whether it may finally bring correct answers to the riddle.更多还原
