A Study of the Functional Equivalence Theory in the Business Letter Translation

【摘要】 " Functional Equivalence Theory" , including Dynamic Equivalence and Formal Equivalence two parts, was first put forward by an American translator , Nida, Eugene A. This theory makes it available for readers of translation feel the same way as those of the origi nal. This theory has become the highest standard in Business Letter Translation in consideration of features of business letters, like normaliz ing, pries word, sample pattern, tactful tone, and its different functions like providing information, communicating and so on. However, be cause of the differences between Chinese culture and foreign cultures, there are some situations need special treatments. This paper does some study in the Functional Equivalence Theory and its application in Business Letter Translation. Finally, the paper educe the conclusion as: This theory has feasibility and constructive function in Business Letter Translation. However, this theory should be abounded and im proved ceaselessly in practice, since it still have some shortages.更多还原
