阅读文本中词汇出现频率对词汇附带习得的影响研究
Affects of Exposure Frequency of Unknown Words On Their Acquisition as a By-product in Reading
【摘要】 该文论述用同一篇阅读文本对高校非英语专业学习者进行研究,考察文本中词汇出现频率对词汇附带习得所产生的影响。研究结果显示:1)阅读文本中词汇出现频率对学习者掌握这些词汇的情况有明显影响。2)高频词汇比低频词汇更易被学习者掌握。3)词汇量大的学习者与词汇量小的学习者附带习得词汇的效果无明显差异。
【Abstract】 This paper presents the research into the role of reading, as one source of input, in language learners’vocabulary development. The study was designed to examine whether non-English majors of low grades in universities incidentally acquire unknown words as a by-product of reading. The study further assesses the effect of exposure frequency of unknown words in reading material. The results indicate that, 1) the exposure frequency in reading material significantly affects learners’vocabulary growth; 2) more exposure frequencies result in fairly more word-gain; 3) learners’ quantity of vocabulary has no significantly affect on their vocabulary growth in incidental vocabulary acquisition through reading.
