【Abstract】 In Willa Cather’s masterpiece My Antonia,the heroine Antonia,an immigrant girl from Bohemia,experiences great hardships but eventually becomes a blissful mother.However,the protagonist Jim Burden,a successful lawyer who has received college education,is trapped in an unhappy marriage and has no children.An analysis by Lacan’s theories of psychoanalysis shows that Jim’s personality development is deeply influenced by his Oedipus complex,thus causing the failure in his marriage.更多还原
