【Abstract】 Chinese Pidgin English(CPE) prevailing in the Chinese ports in Qing Dynasty was mainly the early business English serving the Sino-western trade and commerce in terms of the etymology and the dictionary explanations of the term "pidgin",CPE’s formation and purposes,the contents of CPE teaching and various readers,and the professions of CPE speakers.CPE originated from the language contact and hybridization in the early Sino-western trade and mainly underwent the stages of Canton English in the Canton Trade System and Shanghai Pidgin English in the Treaty System.CPE as the early business English was an indispensable lingua franca in the modern Sino-western business,a mixed language and limited second language acquisition.更多还原
