【Abstract】 Chinese Confucianism has been very complex and practical,and it can effectively guide the personal survival.Puritanism comes from Christianity,but it has departed from the essential meanings in Christianity,and turned toward the struggles of the earthly interests.Hester,as a Puritan,was able to act in a diametrically opposite way.In the face of adversity, she could suffer humiliations,exercise tolerance,live a silent life and work hard,so that she became a submissive figure of righteousness,courtesy,forgiveness and moral creed.Thus,from such a young British woman,we can see that Hester,in her subconscious,pursued the Confucian spirit,and turned her bad fate to a good one.And from her,we can see another Yuan Liaofan,because this philosophy in life must be the right attitude and the only choice that people should hold in harsh environments.更多还原
