【Abstract】 Drawbacks of subject-divided higher education and major teaching,tool-oriented talent cultivation,exam-oriented knowledge and skill education,and utilitarian social atmosphere lead to the weakening of college students’ basic quality and ability.Emphasizing and instructing students extracurricular reading plays a critical role in remedying.Reading not only can stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm and initiative but also can improve their knowledge structure and their adaptation to the fast-changing age.Strategies for cultivating students’ reading ability include:improving students’ awareness of the significance of reading,incorporating reading into university teaching schedule,and planning,instructing,supervising and assessing carefully.更多还原
