【Abstract】 Many people wrongly hold that the so-called International Phonetic Alphabet(IPA) is an international way to show the sounds of English words.This is not true.In this paper,the writers point out that IPA leads to the separation between the sounds and the spelling,thus setting up a man-made obstacle in learning English words.The writers advocate the use of the Natural Pronunciation Symbols(NPS),which links the sounds with the spelling of an English word,to replace IPA in learning English words.更多还原
