【Abstract】 Metaphor is deemed to be the key mechanism to extend meanings in language evolution.This paper,based on a comprehensive collection and synthesis of the polysemous network of the character "heart" plus adequate examples,is attempted to microscopically survey the developmental procedure of the Chinese diachronic semantic extension,and probe into the network’s metaphorical mapping patterns as well as their motivation,thus building up a cognitive bridge to link the objective world and the polysemous system.更多还原
